Callirhytis quercussuttoni
Previous Plant    Back to Thumbnails    Next Plant

Gouty Stem Galls are very obvious swellings on Coast Live Oak branches that can grow to be 4 inches long. They are fairly hard galls that often show not only the exit holes of the Gouty Stem Gall Wasps, but holes from inquilines and parasites also. Inquilines differ from parasites in that they can share the same space as the host species without damaging them. Parasites cause damage to the host species.
